MUSIC! transcends words, language barriers... I was playing piano with a Frenchie the other day and was blown away by how COOL it is that we don't speak the same linguistic language, but we can speak the same musical language... give a listen to some Sibelius (Finnish composer, late Romantic/pre-war).
...But I first and foremost want to be a writer! That's not to say I don't love music and want to be a better musician, but I should embrace and do all I can with what I got, you know? If my language hurts communication and understanding rather than helps it, what's the point?
Professor Gilbert Murray of Oxford wrote [of Gandhi]: "Be careful in dealing with a man who cares nothing for sensual pleasures, nothing for comfort or praise or promotion, but is simply determined to do what he believes to be right. He is a dangerous & uncomfortable enemy because his body which you can always conquer gives you so little purchase over his soul."
